This year’s tenebraes return to a unifying theme. After the ensemble performance of Zelenka’s Lamentations and Responsories or the Responsories of Carlo Gesualdo da Venos, the end of Holy Week will be marked by its corresponding chants, but in a completely unusual place and for the first time in a theatrical setting. The recently opened water reservoirs on the Yellow Hill in Brno resemble underground temple spaces.
\nIn three days, each time in one of the three water tanks, different stories in different colourful forms of Gregorian chant will be heard and performed.<\/p>\n

On the last – Friday – day, the soft colours of the women’s voices will be contrasted by a purely male schola on Thursday. The chants from the Good Friday rites as they were sung in the Olomouc diocese at the end of the Middle Ages will be heard. The final Friday tenebrae “lux\/light” will conclude the triptych of dark watches, touching the darkness of not only the human soul, fear and suffering, so that the path to redemption may eventually emerge from them.<\/p>\n
